Proofreading & Editing

What document types do you proofread and edit?

We focus mainly on academic work, including theses, dissertatioms, personal statements, research proposals, and essays. We also work on documents for businesses and other organisations. Please contact us directly if you are not sure if we can help you.

Will having my work proofread get me in trouble at university?

Definitely not. ThinkDippy services comply with university plagiarism regulations (thus we will not be helping you write the document). In fact, many universities encourage you to have your work proofread.

Do I have full ownership of the final edited document(s)?

Yes. All documents returned to you are solely your property. We proofread or edit your documents according to our guidelines and any instructions you send to us, but do not claim ownership or copyright.

How is my work kept secure?

When you submit a document to us, it is kept in a secure environment on the ThinkDippy database. Your work will never be passed on to third parties. You can also request that your work is deleted from the system once it has been proofread; just send us an email with your reference number and your document will be deleted immediately. Documents are automatically deleted from our system after one year from completion of our work. If you would like to discuss a non-disclosure agreement, please get in touch via email or indicate this when you fill in the order form.

Do you proofread in American English (and other dialects) too?

Yes! Just let us know when you submit your document which dialect of English you want it to be proofread in, and we’ll take care of it.

I do not live in the Netherlands. Can you still proofread or edit my document?

Yes. We are an online company and work with clients across the globe.

Do you check for plagiarism?

No, we do not check for plagiarism. 

Do you write, re-write or paraphrase texts?

No, we do not write, re-write, or paraphrase any texts sent to us for proofreading or editing.

How do I submit my files?

When you complete the order form, you will be able to upload the files you wish to send us (including formatting instructions or guidelines). For documents larger than 20MB, please send these to editors@thinkdippy.com.

How is my document proofread or edited?

We use the track changes feature in Microsoft Word. If you would like more info, please get in touch.

How long does the proofreading or editing process take?

Documents of up to 10,000 words are returned within 7 working days, and those containing between 10,000 and 20,000 words are returned within 12-14 working days.  

We also have an express service, if you need to have your document returned sooner. Express turnaround is available at an extra fee per 1000 words. Rates can be found on the order form.

For documents larger than 20,000 words, please get in touch for a more accurate turnaround time. 

If I request formatting and proofreading/editing, does it take longer?

Usually it does not take longer if your document is relatively short; you will receive an exact turnaround time in your free personalised quote.

Do you accept documents from all subjects?

Yes. We can and do proofread documents from a wide variety of subject areas. If you have any doubts, please contact us to ensure that we can help.

Can I see examples of proofread or edited documents?

Formatting

What document types do you format?

The documents we can format include, but are not limited to, the following: appraisals, articles, books, brochures, business reports, contracts, dissertations, legal documents, manuscripts, PhD theses, and proposals. Please get in touch if your document type is not listed to discuss your requirements.

How do I let you know my formatting preferences?

Please inform us of your preferences (font style, colour scheme, etc.) when you complete the order form.

Do I have full ownership of the final formatted document(s)?

Yes. All documents returned to you are solely your property. Our editors format your documents according to your specific requirements, but do not claim ownership or copyright.

How is my work kept secure?

When you submit a document to us, it is kept in a secure environment on the ThinkDippy database. Your work will never be passed on to third parties. You can also request that your work is deleted from the system once it has been formatted; just send us an email with your invoice reference number and your document will be deleted immediately. If you would like to discuss a non-disclosure agreement, please get in touch via email or indicate this when you fill in the order form.

How do I submit my files?

How long does the formatting process take?

Our standard turnaround time is 5 working days. Turnaround times for longer and more complex documents will be confirmed with you by email. We also have an express service, if you need to have your document returned sooner; please contact us for more information and our rates.

Copywriting

Do you write copy in American English (and other dialects) too?

Yes. Just let us know when you submit your document which dialect of English you would like us to use.

How do I submit my files?

How long does the copywriting process take?

Please get in touch with us to request a free, no-obligation quote and turnaround time.

Do I have full ownership of the copy?

Yes. All copy returned to you is solely your property, once full payment has been received. We write the copy in accordance with your requirements, but do not claim ownership or copyright. 

Pricing & Payments

When and how do I pay?

Before starting each project, we ask for a 50% deposit to be paid upfront. The balance is to be paid upon receipt of the proofread or edited document. Payment can be made either via a payment link or bank transfer. Our bank details will be provided on your invoice.

Is there a minimum order size?

Yes. For our proofreading and editing services, the minimum order is 1,000 words. For our copywriting and formatting services, please get in touch for a personalised quote.

For how long is a quote valid?

Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

Is VAT charged on my order?

If you live in the Netherlands, VAT/btw at 21% will be added to your invoice. In other cases, sales tax will be calculated according to your country of residence or reverse-charged. The tax calculation will be displayed on your invoice.
